The charger utilizes a three-stage charging process, including bulk rate charging, timed period charging, and float rate charging. Temperature sensors ensure that power components operate within specified limits, with the ability to automatically reduce output current under extreme environmental conditions.

The Centaur Charger also incorporates temperature compensation for precise charging. It charges at bulk rate until the output current has reduced to 70% of the rated Amps, at which point a 4-hour timer begins. After the timed period, the charger switches to float rate. The charger includes an internal temperature sensor that compensates the charge voltage based on temperature variations, ensuring optimal charging performance. A DIP switch is available to select the ideal charge/float voltages for Flooded Lead-acid, Gel, or AGM batteries.
