The Digital Yacht ZDIGIAISTX Class B AIS Transponder with External GPS Antenna, also known as iAISTX, is specifically designed for boaters who rely on iPad or Android tablets for navigation. This full-function Class B transponder not only sends boat position and identity data to other AIS-equipped vessels but also provides a wireless interface for mobile devices, enabling popular apps to display real-time AIS data from other vessels.

The iAISTX creates a secure and password-protected local Wi-Fi network, allowing AIS and GPS data to be seamlessly transmitted to iOS and Android apps such as Navionics, iSailor, Weather4D, SailGrib, iNavX, TimeZero, and more. These apps offer detailed overlays of local AIS targets, constantly updating in real-time. By clicking on a target, users can access identity information and collision avoidance data like CPA (closest point of approach) and TCPA (time to closest point of approach), depending on the app being used.

Programming the AIS transponder with the boat's identity and physical dimensions is a one-time process, easily accomplished through a simple embedded web interface accessible via the tablet's browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.). This interface also allows users to adjust transmission settings, set up wireless parameters such as passwords, and silence the transmission if desired. Installation is straightforward, requiring power connection (12/24V), mounting the included external GPS antenna, and connecting to a dedicated VHF antenna or the boat's existing VHF antenna using Digital Yacht's SPL1500 or SPL2000 AIS-VHF antenna splitters.

If AIS data integration with a Multi-Function Display (MFD) or chart plotter is desired, the iAISTX Plus variant is recommended, as it includes an additional NMEA 2000 interface.
