In case a user forgets their PIN, the drive can be unlocked using the Admin PIN.

The Aegis Padlock DT also features a drive reset feature, which can be implemented with a unique command. This allows you to clear all PINs and data, and create a randomly generated encryption key. This feature enables you to reset and redeploy the drive as many times as needed.

For additional security, the Aegis Padlock DT can be configured to auto-lock after a pre-determined amount of inactivity time. This is ideal for protecting your data when you're away from your desk. The drive also comes with a lock slot, compatible with most standard security locks, allowing you to physically secure it to your desk or other fixtures.

All data, PINs, and encryption keys are always encrypted while at rest, providing data-at-rest protection. The Aegis Padlock DT FIPS also incorporates a brute force self-destruct feature. It uses a three-pronged approach to protect against brute force attacks, denying access until the user PIN is verified, locking itself after several incorrect attempts, and eventually destroying the encryption key and locking itself after a predetermined number of failed PIN entries.

The Aegis Padlock DT FIPS is sealed from physical attacks by a tough epoxy coating, adding an additional barrier between your data and potential hackers. The encryption chip and circuitry are completely protected, making it virtually impossible to access without causing permanent damage to the electronics.

It also features Apricorn's Variable Time Circuit (VTC) technology, which thwarts timing attacks aimed at accessing the drive by studying the behavior and infiltrating the Padlock's electronics.
